Prenatal & Postpartum Lactation Education Support
Breastfeeding is one of the most natural things in the world and also one of the things new moms feel least prepared for.
At Cache Valley Birth Center, we believe that confidence comes from education, and that the best time to build that foundation is before your baby is born.
Our lactation services support you through every stage, from preparing during pregnancy to troubleshooting in those tender early weeks.
Prenatal Lactation Education
Our prenatal lactation sessions are led by our midwifery team during pregnancy. We'll walk you through how your body makes milk, what a good latch looks and feels like, how to read your newborn's hunger cues, and how to navigate the most common early challenges like engorgement and cluster feeding.
Sessions are unhurried, personalized, and designed around your questions, not a checklist.
Postpartum Lactation Support
Even with the best preparation, questions and challenges come up once your baby is here. Our postpartum lactation consultations give you a dedicated space to work through whatever you're facing — whether that's latch difficulties, supply concerns, pain, pumping questions, or simply needing reassurance that you're doing it right. Because our midwives already know you and your birth story, the support you receive is personal, not generic.
Why It Matters
Most breastfeeding struggles happen in the first few days, when you're exhausted and learning everything at once. Having support both before and after birth means you're never facing challenges for the first time alone.
Moms who feel informed and supported are more confident, more connected to their feeding experience, and more likely to reach their own breastfeeding goals, whatever those look like for them.
