Meet the Team

Stacy Hepner

APRN, CNM

The reason for everything I do is family. They are everything to me. My husband is my best friend and high school sweetheart. We have worked hard to build a life we are proud of. We have three beautiful children together. I adore my kids and enjoy spending time with them. I love working in my garden and reading. I love hiking, exercising, and camping. I love anything outdoors. I live for traveling and experiencing the world.

I love learning and have a BS in Kinetics from Utah State, a BS in Nursing from the University of Utah, and an MS in Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University. I have obtained post graduate certificates in trauma informed care and psychedelic assisted therapy.  I have worked in obstetrics since 2006 and love women’s health. I have worked in a variety of settings from clinics to hospital units such as labor and delivery, mother baby, and LDRP units. I have worked in rural community hospitals and busy urban hospitals.

I have a deep passion in caring for women. I feel honored to be in sacred spaces with women and their families. What a privilege it has been for me to witness the birth of mothers, fathers, infants, and families. I feel that aside from the work I do with my own family, the contributions I add to this world and make it better, is in mothering the mother. It is deeply meaningful to me. I cherish the opportunity I get to be present at intimate glimpses of more, the ineffable moments that don’t have words to describe them.

It has been my dream to open a birth center in my community for a very long time.  The maternal and infant mortality rate in the United States is astounding, despite being one of the wealthiest countries and spending the most money on healthcare, we come in at #55 in the world. European countries, such as Norway, have significantly lower rates. I believe this is due to the midwifery model of care with all women having equal access to care and being treated with respect and given autonomy in birth choices. In these European models, the Obstetricians are saved for surgical and high-risk deliveries, while midwives manage low risk uncomplicated pregnancies.

You can think of it as a midwife being a primary care provider and the obstetrician as a high-risk specialist. Hospitals are for sick people and many women in pregnancy are not sick. Hospitals are needed in obstetrics, and they do save lives. While I am deeply thankful for life saving interventions provided by hospitals, I also believe that with proper risk stratification, a birth center is a safe and affordable alternative for low intervention, holistic care for healthy pregnancies.

Thank you for allowing me to play a small roll in your becoming. Thank you for showing me that mothers, fathers, and children show up every single day, over, and over, and over again.

Lindsay Ransom

CPM, LDEM

Born and raised in Arizona, I’m a proud mother of three, married to my biggest supporter and love of my life. My personal experience giving birth in the medical system, ignited my passion for empowering women through comprehensive holistic maternity care.

After completing my midwifery education and apprenticeship in Arizona, my family and I returned to Cache Valley, where our hearts feel at home. Since becoming a licensed and certified professional midwife in 2021, I’ve had the privilege of serving families across Utah and Idaho as the founder of my former homebirth midwifery practice; Indigo Midwifery.

I believe our society has evolved beyond the outdated standard maternity care system and I am deeply committed to creating care experiences rooted in trust, respect, trauma-informed and woman-centered care. It is through this nurturing guidance that leaves lasting, positive impacts for generations to come.

I currently volunteer as the educational director for the Utah Midwives Organization, the state health department's Infant Mortality Review Committee, and the Utah Women's & Newborn Quality Collaborative. All of which aim to improve outcomes for moms and babies, and collaboration between community and hospital birth.

Beyond midwifery, I love paddleboarding, camping, hiking, gardening, hanging out with my children, spending time in the mountains, facilitating somatic experiences for women, and savoring a warm cup of tea. My passion for learning keeps me diving into several books & classes at any given time.

MA

I’m a busy mom of five kids and love my job as mom more than anything! I am married to my high school sweetheart and my absolute best friend. I have always been fascinated by the female body and its amazing ability to create and sustain life. I started studying it in high school and my interest only grew as I started having babies of my own.

After a rough first birth experience, I decided to dive in and start studying more to improve my own experience the next time around. I became a childbirth doula and childbirth educator and was able to spend many years helping women to have peaceful and informed pregnancies and deliveries. I was grateful for the privilege to attend and witness women in their most powerful moments as they brought their children into the world.

After my kids were a little older I began working in healthcare in both a hospital and clinical setting. I spent many years in a hospital lab as a Phlebotomist and eventually as the hospital Laboratory Supervisor. Most recently, I have spent several years working in a busy OBGYN clinic as a CCMA. I loved my time there and felt privileged to be part of such an exciting journey with each patient. I have also spent many years as a CPR and First Aid instructor with The American Heart Association.

I absolutely love helping and teaching all patients, but helping women is my passion. Working in a Birth Center has always been my dream, and I am beyond excited to get to work with Stacy and this entire team of amazing and talented women! I am so excited to be part of this much needed resource for women and families in Cache Valley.

Kamilla Taylor

Birth Assistant

I am a thankful mother of three wonderful children and our angel baby boy. I am married to my high school sweetheart, who is not only my best friend but also my greatest supporter in life.

Outside of my work, I enjoy homeschooling my children, exploring the great outdoors, traveling, gardening, playing with our two boxer dogs and embarking on new adventures with my family.

As a certified birth doula and midwives assistant, I am deeply passionate about supporting families during their pregnancy and birth journeys. My own path into birth work began after having my fourth child, inspiring me to ensure that every mother feels supported and empowered—regardless of her circumstances.

My experiences encompass a range of birth scenarios, including a healthy out-of-hospital birth, two cesarean sections, and the heartbreaking loss of my stillborn son. Additionally, my journey as a mom navigating an autoimmune disease has further fueled my commitment to enhancing maternal support. I strive to create an environment where every mother feels informed, confident, and empowered in her choices.

For the past year, I have studied under Lindsay Ransom, assisting her under supervision, which has further deepened my knowledge and skills in the field. In addition to my certification as a birth doula and midwives assistant, I am also a nationally certified phlebotomist. This diverse skill set enables me to provide well-rounded support to families as they navigate their pregnancy and birth journeys.

I am beyond grateful for this chapter of life and look forward to the privilege of supporting transformative and uplifting birth experiences.

Mallory Griffin

RN, Birth Assistant

I am a Mama to three incredible daughters, married to my best friend, and a Cache Valley native. I’ve always had an insatiable desire to learn, and from the time I took my first Medical Anatomy class in high school, I’ve never stopped trying to learn everything I can about health and our phenomenal bodies that we get to call “Home”.

My passion for women’s health and all things surrounding birth truly began when I had my first daughter 11 years ago. Pregnancy, birth, and the post-partum period turned my life on its head; in all the good and hard ways!

My own wild ride into motherhood ignited a passion in me to learn all I could about the perinatal period and taught me about the importance of self-trust, evidence-based research, and self-advocacy when it comes to the birthing space. I remember being fascinated with the wisdom and power of our bodies, holistic birth traditions around the world, and the amazing models of maternal healthcare in other developed nations. I was enthralled and haven’t been able to get birth out of my head since then!

Over the last decade I have snuck my way in to attend any birth possible wearing a myriad of “hats” that I’ve picked up along the way; Certified Foot Zonologist, Reiki and Energy Practitioner, Yoga Instructor, and unofficial doula and birth photographer. I most recently graduated from WSU as a Registered Nurse, and will continue to further my education in the near future to complete my dream of becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM).

My own experiences with midwife-led care have been nothing short of miraculous, and I cannot wait to help to provide the type of care that was given to me, to other women in this sacred space at Cache Valley Birth Center!

Nicole Hock

Birth Assistant

As early as I can remember, I’ve always had a deep fascination with birth. I was the old-souled child at the fringe of motherhood gatherings, wanting to be a part of it all and absorb every detail of the conversation. As a mother of three myself now, I’m still enamored with birth, and honored to be involved in the sacredness of birth and motherhood.

After a traumatic birth experience with my first baby, I decided to educate myself and change my approach to labor and birth. This ultimately led me to becoming a doula myself, something I am still extremely passionate about.

I strongly believe in creating safe and calm environments where women are heard and respected. Empowering women to help them have positive, powerful, and physiologic birth experiences is a privilege, and I’m glad to be a part of this important work.

Outside of birth work, I enjoy spending my time gardening, baking, reading, and finding new projects. I’m a creative and tend to always be working on something. My favorite moments are quiet ones where my family and I are immersed in nature. I was born and raised in Utah County but my husband and I love Cache Valley and plan on growing old here.

McKenna Fairbanks

Birth Assistant

I was raised in the land nestled under the wings of the Wasatch Mountains and consider myself a daughter of that land. I am a wife, a mother, an eldest daughter, a seeker of knowledge, and a creature who cherishes the rhythms of nature and the wisdom found in Earth.

My journey into birth work began after the birth of my daughter. Thrown into the challenge of a difficult pregnancy, I was hungry for knowledge - devouring everything I could find to prepare the Maiden that I was for the portal of birth that lay ahead. My birth at home was empowering and transcendent. I emerged deeply aware of the sacredness of this rite of passage. It was not just the birth of my daughter but my own re-birth. The fire I felt for birth education grew and I began to feel “the call” to support others through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Now, I am honored to walk alongside women and families as they embark on their own transformative journeys into parenthood. To support, to guide, to hold space for, and witness such a sacred and intimate experience is both a privilege and a profound responsibility. As a birth worker, I stand as a student of Earth, of the human body, and of the wisdom of the generations of women before me. Each birth I attend fills me with deep gratitude for the trust placed in me, and I’m honored to serve women and families through their own sacred stories.

Outside of birthwork, my days are filled with simple rituals of tea, yoga, and going barefoot with my daughter. I am learning the art of herbalism and wildcrafting—I find there’s a quiet magic in crafting healing potions from Earth’s bounty. I find joy in cultivating community and sitting in sacred circle with other women, putting my hands in the dirt, camping under the stars, and hiking with my family along the wild trails that wind through the mountains near our home.

Ariana Patino

MA, Birth Assistant

I have two beautiful little girls who are my pride and joy. I have been with my husband for 10 years and right now we are both branching out to further our careers.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, drinking iced tea or coke and recently started loving gardening around my house.

I have been an OBGYN Certified Medical Assistant for 7.5 years and have loved every minute of it. I found a deep passion for women’s health and can’t wait to help in births now. Right now, I assist in lots of GYN procedures and help in caring for our wonderful pregnant patients.

I have worked with Stacy Hepner for 5 of those years! Before becoming an MA, I was a CNA for 1.5 years working in skilled nursing facilities and knew I wanted to continue in the healthcare field. Currently, I’m in nursing school to obtain my RN, BSN degree. I can’t wait to gain more knowledge and continue my career in women’s health.

As a mom of two having two vastly different birth’s with some traumatic events - I can’t wait to help women have a different experience. Informed decision making, decreasing birth trauma, and having a powerful, positive and beautiful birth experience as you bring your bundle of joy into the world is my goal as I work side by side with our incredible midwives!

Amber Lloyd

Student Midwife

I am a student midwife entering the ‘Primary Midwife Under Supervision’ phase of training this summer to become a certified professional midwife (CPM). I have been training under Lindsay Ransom over the last year and am excited to complete my apprenticeship at the birth center. I maintain a current NRP, CPR, and phlebotomy certification.

My journey into birth work started after the home-birth of my second child. It was then that I realized midwifery is truly my calling and I was meant to serve families in this capacity. I am honored and humbled to be invited into to the intimate and sacred space that is birth. I believe the Midwifery Model of Care improves outcomes and creates a higher level of satisfaction because of the deep level of trust that is established throughout pregnancy and the emphasis on informed consent and shared decision making.

I am committed to supporting physiologic birth, providing individualized care and empowering women and families through education. After earning my CPM I’d love to pursue becoming an IBCLC to provide a higher level of lactation support to midwifery clients.

In addition to birth, I am extremely passionate about the postpartum period, supporting our community with in home traditional postpartum care to ‘mother the mother’. I truly believe by improving birth and postpartum experiences, we can improve our future.

Outside of midwifery I am a mother of two little ones, a creative, and a wife to my best friend. I enjoy art, music, lots of coffee and getting tattooed by my husband. I am a native Texan but fell in love with Cache Valley and its natural beauty and family centered environment.

I am grateful for the opportunity to continue learning, growing, and being a part of more empowering births.
